The Korea National Under-15 Women’s Softball Team will compete in the inaugural U-15 Women’s Softball Asia Cup from June 13-17 in Buri, Taiwan.
The Korea Baseball Softball Association said on June 9, “The inaugural U-15 Women’s Softball Asia Cup is a competition to determine the strongest youth softball team in Asia. It is strategically organized by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) and Softball Asia (SA) to create a youth softball boom in Asia and around the world. Korea will also be competing in the Asia Cup.”
The top two teams from the Asia Cup will qualify for the inaugural U-15 Women’s Softball World Cup in Japan this October. If World Cup host Japan finishes runner-up or better, the third-place finisher in the Asia Cup will advance to the World Cup.
The Asia Cup will feature seven nations – host Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore, and India – in a four-day qualifying pool. The first and second place finishers in the pool play in the finals, while the third through sixth place teams, excluding the seventh place finisher, play in a ranking match.
South Korea will open the tournament on the 13th against the Philippines, who they must beat to reach the final.토토사이트
The team has been training at Guam High School in Daegu since June 6.
“Our primary goal is to reach the final,” said Lee Sang-hyun, head coach of the national team. “It was a short training period, but the whole team did their best, and now it’s just a matter of giving it our all on the field. We can do it and we will do it,” he said.
