A Qatari group has moved closer to buying Manchester United.
“A consortium led by Qatari banker and tycoon Sheikh Jassim has been granted exclusive rights to negotiate a deal to buy the club,” the U.K.-based global news agency Reuters reported on Friday. The club is expected to be sold for more than $6 billion (7.6 trillion won).”
The Glazer family, which currently owns the club, has been in talks to sell since November. The bidders were narrowed down to Qatar Capital’s Jassim and Jim Ratcliffe of British steelmaker INEOS. However, the process has since stalled, leaving United fans worried.
However, if reports are to be believed, the Qatari side appears to have been granted exclusive rights to make a bid. The outlet is one of the world’s largest news organizations, so it’s unlikely to be misreported, which means that a Qatari takeover of the club seems likely.토토사이트
Qatar has the capital to invest, as well as the ability to improve the facilities. And unlike Glazer, they wouldn’t have to take on debt to make the purchase and then charge the club for it, meaning that United’s financial strength would be overwhelming in the transfer market.
