I thought it couldn’t get any worse.

“The Yankees have announced that Jason Dominguez, 19, has a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow,” MLB.com, the official website of Major League Baseball (MLB), reported on Monday (Nov. 11). According to Yankees manager Aaron Boone, it has not been determined if Dominguez will have surgery. MLB.com added, “The average recovery time for a position player (for an elbow ligament tear) is nine to 10 months after surgery. It’s bad enough that he’ll have to consider missing next season.바카라사이트

Dominguez is MLB.com’s No. 2 Yankees prospect for the class of 2023 (74th overall). Along with outfielder Spencer Jones, he is one of the resources the team is betting on for the future. The Dominican Republic native donned a Yankees uniform in July 2019 for a $5.1 million signing bonus. He hit .254 with 15 home runs and 66 RBIs in Double-A this season. After a promotion to Triple-A, he batted .419 (13-for-31).

The Yankees, who are in last place in the American League East and far removed from fall ball, called up Dominguez on Feb. 2. In eight games, Dominguez cruised, batting .258 (8-for-31) with four home runs and seven RBIs. His on-base percentage (.303) and slugging percentage (.677) combined for a .980 OPS. But the sudden injury has put him on the shelf. “Obviously, it’s tough news,” Boone said.
