The San Diego Padres announced today that they have activated Machado from the disabled list for a home game against the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday.
Machado was placed on the disabled list on May 16 after being hit by a sand dune in his left hand during a home game against the Kansas City Royals.
He was immediately activated from the disabled list. The Padres announced the following lineup against right-hander Jameson Taillon (3-3, 8.04): Xander Bogaerts (shortstop), Fernando Tatis Jr. (right field), Juan Soto (left field), Manny Machado (third base), Jake Cronenworth (first base), Gary Sanchez (catcher), Matt Carpenter (designated hitter), Rougned Odor (second base) and Trent Grisham (center field).
Ha-Sung Kim is out of the lineup. All available lefties were used against the right-handed starter.
With Machado’s return from injury, Kim will likely move back to his natural position at second base.
In the 13 games he’s started at third base in Machado’s absence, he’s gone 11-for-40 (.275) with one home run, four RBIs, nine walks and nine strikeouts. He had a .392 on-base percentage and a .400 slugging percentage. The team went 5-8 during the stretch.
In addition to Machado, San Diego also added first baseman Alfonso Rivas to the major league roster today.
Signed as a free agent in January, Rivas was batting .319 with a .440 on-base percentage and .571 slugging percentage in 44 games for Triple-A El Paso this season.토토사이트
The “local boy” from Chula Vista, a city near San Diego, spent the last two years with the Cubs, batting .247 with a .331 on-base percentage and .322 slugging percentage in 119 big league games.
To make room for Rivas on the 40-man roster, catcher Luis Camposano was transferred to the 60-day disabled list, while on the 26-man roster, designated hitter Nelson Cruz was placed on the disabled list with a right hamstring strain and outfielder Jose Azucar was sent down to Triple-A.
