Kim Eun-gyo (16, Incheon Physical Education High School) won a silver medal by setting a personal best record in the first international competition.

Kim Eun-gyo jumped 15m08 in the men’s triple jump final at the 5th Asian Youth Championships under 18 held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on the 28th (local time) and she came second.

Kim Eun-gyo, who had a personal best record of 14m64 in a domestic competition organized by the Korea Association of Athletics Federations, reached the podium by surpassing her own record in her first international competition.

China’s Zhang Huayong took the championship with a 15m67, and China’s Gan Ziyi ranked third after Kim Eun-gyo with 15m05.

Korean short-distance prospects struggled.

Lee Eun-bin (16, Jeonnam Gymnasium) made it through the women’s 100m preliminaries and semifinals to reach the final, but she only finished sixth with a time of 12:17, 0.25 seconds slower than her personal best of 11:92.

Bahrain’s Leyla Kamal won the women’s 100m with a time of 11.77.

He was 0.18 seconds slower than the Korean middle school student record of 10 seconds 73 set last year when he was in his third year of middle school.

Wu Haolin of China crossed the finish line in 10.55 seconds to win.

Park Ji-young (16, Gyeongbuk Physical Education High School) ranked fourth in the women’s 100m hurdles with a time of 14 seconds 71, and Na Hyun-joo (17, Gwangju Physical High School) ranked sixth in the men’s 400m hurdles with a time of 48 seconds 94.
