The Gambia opened the scoring 20 seconds after kickoff with a left-footed mid-range shot from Adama Boyang. Honduras equalized in the fifth minute through a header from Marco Aseituno. With the game tightly contested, the Gambia scored a late goal in the 39th minute. Boyang’s header was saved by the Honduran goalkeeper. Boyang slotted the rebound home to restore the lead.
